Monofilamnet Fishing Lines

Monofilament or "mono" fishing lines are the most common available on the market place. They are very popular lines for fishing as they are available in a very large number of breaking strains and colors

Depending the size of fish you are pursuing you will choose a heavier or lighter breaking strain of line for example silver fishing for small fish may require a breaking stay line of only 1.5lbs whereas fishing for heavier fish such as tope shark would require a 50lbs breaking straining line.

When using mono lines you'll experience an overall stretch in your line of approximately 30% which is very forgiving when playing fish close to the net.

Braided Lines

Braid has begun a new life in the fishing world over the last 15 years and is being used by more anglers in specialist fishing like pike jerk bait fishing and for long distance carp fishing.

Braid is woven material as opposed to mono which is manufactured nylon based product as a result of the materials used in braided fishing lines there is little or no stretch in this material, this has a two fold impact on your fishing. the contact with a fish is very direct and you'll feel every knock and bang from the fish however this type of line has no stretch and so you need to be cautious when playing a fish close to the net not to pull the hook.

The types of fish that you would need to use fishing wire for include.
  • Pike
  • Zander
